Shows that none of you have actually been inside one of these front ends. every last ******* second gen on this planet has a plastic front crash support bumper. the framework that holds it off the radiator support is metal. everything in front of the headlights is plastic.
obviously you didnt see my post because i have and behind the foam crash support is a big *** metal beam that goes accross the car and that somehow was taken out i will take the bumper off and take a picture for you if you dont believe me.
That is far more than 12 pounds i might add.

maybe we're not talking apples to apples here....

The thing you call fiberglass is a fiber re-enfoced composite PLASTIC. the resin in "fiberglass" is polyester. when you know what you're talking about come back and we can discuss it.

As for all the metal you people are finding under there... its not the actual bumber. that piece is plastic. what its attached to is metal. there are some little brackets and such that go from the metal portion of the nose of the car to the fenders which are metal. the bumper is not.

Might as well start cutting away at the dash, not much else left. I didn't get a good look at the car, but are the interior door panels off?(I assume so) Center console? I say next step is fiberglass fenders and hood. Some small superlight rims. Smaller/lighter gas tank, lighter battery. Lightweight lug nuts Hey they make them, lol. You save like 1-2 lbs total man!

yeah, lose the steel tank and replace it with an injection molded plastic cell. since you don't care about track safety you can strap it in however you see fit. maybe some lightweight aluminum welding wire will tie it in nicely.....

ok, I'll be nice. just please don't ghetto rig another 7 trying to make it the lightest car on the planet. be somewhat courteous to those who might rear end you and don't want to blow up. pinto's were all recalled for that reason. people don't like fireballs on the street.

You've already put your car into the most open classes of racing there are. you'd need to put corner weight boxes in the car to make use of anything you've done on a track and keep from being out classed with the 800hp v8 guys.

2187 is pretty damn good already.. Fiberglass front fenders, carbon fiber hood, lexan rear hatch, you're almost at the point where any further weight gains is going to be expensive. I assume undercoating is gone, and all interior tar removed of course.

OTOH, why are you bothering?? Track car, I can understand, street car, this isn't a street car anymore!

I think it's like remove 10lbs=1hp So if you remove 100lbs u r up 10 hp. I think i could run out of car fast.

Tons of replies...

I use this car mainly for racing @ the track and toolin around in.

However I enjoy the ride so much I often drive it to work every day.

My car is far from a beater.. it is 100% mechanically and the cosmetics is what is lackin.

I wanted to make the car into a track only car, but I am starting to thinking otherwise being I can not get lower in weight.

Undercoating silkworm said... what is the deal with that?
Weight alot?

I have a few crazy ideas, and I see areas that won't matter,if I cut them out, as I am getting a full roll cage, or another car with a full cage custom built. I can have either for $200.

I just got my 12 volt fuel injector, and that 100 shot is on the way.
