Calling FC gurus, can someone identify this please?

Hi guys!

I'm a proud new owner of a 1986 FC GXL. It was previously owned by only 1 person. It's all stock except for this one mystery module whose wires have been severed under the glove box. Can someone help me figure out what the module is/did?

thanks in advance!
Mike

It's not an original Mazda part that's for sure. Is that a 20A fuse sticking out of the side of it?

I really hope it's not a original part. I tried taking more of the dash out to see what it's connected to but being with it being so old some places are staring to crack.

That's axtually not a fuse. It's glue actually that has yellowed over the years. It has a cable that has been cut that leads into the engine bay...but then I loose track of it so I can't tell what's it actually connected to or was connected to.

Thanks
Mike

Oh was that something that orginally came with the car? It has a cable that was cut leading into the engine bay so I'm not sure if it's related to the stereo.

Any labels, tags or markings on it? The black cord coming out the bottom...how many wires doe it contain? Looks like it might be some kind of DC-to-DC converter (https://www.alliedelec.com/product/m...E&gclsrc=aw.ds).

Thanks for the input. There are no markings whatsoever on it. I was looking for something written on it as well. In the black cord there are 4 wires inside.

Thanks,
Mike

Thats the ground. Probably grounded in the engine bay somewhere. How hard is it to follow the wires back?

I looked but couldn't find anything. There are 4 smaller gauge wires in the black cord.
