Caliper Squeezing....

SUp

my car broke down the other day, had a neighbour tow it with his truck a few blocks while i was in the car, the front right caliper seems to be making noise on the disc... as if its squeezing when the brakes are not applied..

I did just take off the caliper and i got it on again. So its not pressing to hard..

I did take a look at the pads and noticed they were reflective.

Question: Are these floating calipers? where they should be touching the disc? And the brake pads are glazed is why they are making noise? or is the caliper starting to seeze... thanks alot

Evan

Yea, the pads will be against the rotor, but not with much force. The turning of the rotor, and the slight wobble (on rear wheel drive) will, or should keep the pads from being tight against the rotor. Front wheel drive cars, with no rotor deviation, will heat the rotors up in a hurry. That's why front wheel drive cars, and 4wd vehicles destroy the front rotors. Remove the pads and see if you can push the pistons back into the caliper easily. On the 4 piston calipers the lowers have a tendency to freeze in the bores because of condensation in lower part of caliper. If you can move them in, no problem.
