A CAI Idea...Would it Work?
A CAI Idea...Would it Work?
I have a s4 turbo and im going make a cold air intake with 3" piping. Since I know the AFM should be level, i was thinking about connecting the AFM straight onto the turbo with a rubber coupler (2.5 to 3), then run the piping to the air filter someplace. I just want to know if this is an ok setup or should the AFM be somewhere else because of some issue, maybe heat. I see everyone else having the turbo, piping, then the AFM, then more piping and finally the filter. Maybe there is a reason its like this and I just dont know. Just hoping for some input before I do this. Thanks.
keep the afm away from the turbo.... the heat will mess w/ the readings of the afm.... also, will damage the electronics.... those turbos get really hot!!.... nice idea, but not feesable in my opinion
Bit more complicated would be to run the 3" pipe from the turbo to the AFM, and then run pipe on the other side of the AFM to wherever you want it.

thats how I'm about to run mine but I'm running it down though where the water bottle was for a cai setup on my turbo. Don't know if it is really going to help because when the turbo compresses the air it is going to heat up quick witch is why we have intercoolers. I think if cai actually worked for turbo cars you would see alot more setup like this.
