A/C and P/S belts wont come off!

Angry A/C and P/S belts wont come off!

im trying to get the A/C and power steering belts off of my 88' GXL and they wont budge theres new belts on there from the previous owner so im pretty sure a shop did it. and i took out the long bolts behind the pullys and it dosent budge................help!

did you lose the pullies?? the bolts on the bracket that hold the pullies losen the pullies(move them down) this will enable you to remove them.

There's a bolt that runs through the center of each tensioner pulley. It must be loosened to get the belts off. 17mm or 19mm........

Loosen the nut on the front of the pulley,
Loosen the tensioner bolt (the one on top of the bracket),
if it doesn't start to slack, tap on the tensioner bolt with a mallet (not a hammer),
remove belt.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

As above stated loosen the bolts that go through the center of each pulley. After bolts are loosened you would turn the rod, 10mm I believe, and that will move the corresponding pulley.

i removed both bolts in back already thinking they world move......wrong and ive tried loosining the bolts but they dont budge. this shouldnt be this hard.

The bolts are important, but the NUT holding those idler pulleys on are also important. Loosen that nut, then you should be able to move the idler up and down with those bolts.

(All IIRC, it's been 5 years since I had AC or PS)

but they wont budge im trying to get the power steering belt off so i can get to the AC better but it wont budge and its starting to strip even with the right size socket. im thinking im just going to cut them off and worry about it later.
