a/c help please

ok--I was driving my car, and had COOL a/c(NOT cold), but then I parked it, and when I came back out, there was only hot air coming out. Found out that my a/c clutch doesn't come on when I try to turn it on. I jumpered the electrical connector from the a/c clutch to the battery, and the clutch clicks in and out. When I turn on the ac, there is no change in engine rpm's. I am pretty sure that it needs a charge, but I did a search and found that there should be a change in rpm's when you hit the ac button....is that right? Also--my cigarette lighter is working ok, so it isnt there. could this be a bad logicon?

It is my understanding that the clutch will only engage when there is pressure in the system. If you have lost pressure that would explain why clutch only engages when you jumper it. Have the system checked before the shop simply fills it.

Please base your posts on facts instead of ignorance.

Jodoolin is correct, if there isn't enough pressure in the system it just won't run. Try jumpering the pressure switch by the receiver. If the compressor runs with the switch jumpered then it's definitely low on gas. Don't run it like that though, just test it.
