a/c help

I HAVE ALREADY SEARCHED FOR THIS AND FOUND NO DEFINATE ANSWER

my ac doesnt work on my 87 turboii

i dont know when it stopped becuase i just bought the car

I would really like to fix it before summer, can I just but a r134a can from the store and fill up or what?

First. Check all the lines, condensor and such. Maybe get some of the leak dye stuff.

Second, our cars use R12. You can do a change over to R134 but, it's kinda extensive. You can search for that one.

If the pressure is too low in the system, the circuit to the a/c compressor will be open. I'd suggest going to your drier/accumulator and disconnect the two wires to the pressure switch on that item. Jumper them together and then turn on the a/c. The compressor should run. If it did then the system is low. IF it did not, then you've another problem.

If it did not, go pull the a/c relay out and check for voltage to the X1 pin on the relay with the a/c turned to ON.

Edit: Forget X1, not applicable to RX. The LW or blue/white wire should have a gnd on it and the RY or red yellow should have 12v with the a/c ON.
