a/c condenser fan

i just installed a/c in my car, and when i tried hooking up the a/c condenser fan it didn't kick on with the a/c. i applied battery power to the fan and it does work but the wiring that exists on the front on of the car wont power the fan. basically my question is i would like to just run an external 30-40 amp relay somehow off the compresser or a/c pressure switch, is there a write up on how to do this somewhere? i searched and all i came up with was threads on people wanting to remove their a/c.

any help is appreciated.

thanks

lamar

Yes - It would be similar to an e-fan mod.
Run a wire from the compressor clutch wire to a relay, to run the booster fan.
Most signals to solenoids are ground, but the A/C compressor is +12volts when on.

Simple ghetto fix would be just to wire the power through a high amp switch, if you don't want to do that get a hold of the A/C wiring schematics in the FSM, and check out how Mazda wired the fan for normal operation. Should be a relay somewhere, I would think, besides the A/C main relay...

There's a relay in front of the radiator, plus you should check the 15A COOLING FAN fuse in the cabin fuse box. All the info you need to trouble-shoot the fan is in the Cooing System chapter of the FSM.

thanks nz, i checked the 15a fuse in the cabin and it was fine. i will look into the fsm and see if i can figure it out. if i cant i think the easiest route would be to add an external relay.
