A/C compressor

How can I tell if my A/C compressor is not workin'? I just bought 134a conversion/fill kit to refill my A/C. Ive tried to fill it but no cold air is coming out. The low end fill valve is on the fatter tube right(the one on pass. side)or is it the one on the smaller tube? Im at my bros house so I dont have my manual!! BTW I didnt refill my A/c when it ran out 2 years ago!!

the a/c system needs to be fully flushed before conversion, the 2 chemicals have problems interacting, i dunno what happens though.

The system needs an evacuation done before it can be recharged. It really should have all the mineral oil removed (flushed) before the new poly oil and 134a is installed as none of the old stuff is compatible with the new. You can also expect about a 25% loss of cooling capacity with this conversion. You also need to be sure not to use the same amount of R134a that the system required when charged with R12. I believe the reduced amount is about 25%-30% less be sure you follow all instructions because R134a will run higher pressures and if you over charge the system you may blow out o-rings, hoses etc.
I'm a A/C and Heating tech and have a type universal refrigerant handling certification. I'm not certified on automotive but I still work with R134a refrigerant as well as many others.
If you do the conversion right everything should work out just be careful (goggles etc.)

How do I evacuate the system, if I ran out of freon then should I still need to flush the system? Any tips on flushing the A/C system?

There is still mineral oil in the system and that is what needs flushed out. The two types of oil are not compatible. If mixed they will create this nasty snot like crap that will really ruin the system. You really should take it to a shop. Evacuation requires a two stage vacuum pump. Unless you can borrow one it will be cheaper to have it done right. It still amazes me that anyone can still buy refrigerants (that are not chlorine based) without having any knowledge or training in this field. I'm not trying to be an *** to you I just hate to see you make matters worse. Also you need to think about this, if all the refrigerant leaked out you need to find and repair the leak
and replace the receiver/dryer before doing anything else.

You are in way over your head. The kit you just bought is called a "Death Kit' by the MHVAC industry. You also will not get the best advice on this forum. MHVAC is not rocket science, but it is pretty unforgiving if you mess up.

Try this site:

http://www.autoacforum.com/

It is sponsored by an mobile hvac company. There are several active and retired mhvac techs that post there and help newbies like you (and me). They will really walk you through and help you every step of the way.

Here is a link to the exact procedures you are looking for:
