buying this turbo2?

sup yall 7'z pimpz.. i found me a 89 turbo2 at this local shop.. for about 3.4k.. brand new motor from mazda dealership said the onwer.. he has the paper work.. reason i dont know if i should get the car is bc it been sitting in the shop for a yr.. look like it hasnt been move since i seen it.. clean car all around but the motor is most important so yeah.. i heard rotarys is big on seals.. so i think the seals could be bad from it sitting so long even tho its a new motor.. well about 10k miles on it but yeahh.. i believe the onwer didnt oil it up.. well i believe it is drain out so the seals havent even touch oil.. the car is in the shop and isnt in real bad temperture if that matters.. so should i jump this deal or just let it go? thanks yall

Ya, mine sat in a cold garage for two years before I started driving it daily, the only problem was the battery, a compression test is all you need to do though, that is most important!

Except FD's aren't rare...at all. That being said, yes, they are more rare than a FD and it would be fair to say that S5 TII's are rare for a fair price. Easily found and picked up if you are willing to pay.

I'd buy it, but I'd make sure that whatever "oil part" he ordered is put on the car before you take it home.

Better yet, find out what the "oil part" is. You've got my curiousity now that you've said it'll cost $400 to put it on (I'm assuming that's the cost of the part and the labor). Chances are good you can pick up the same piece relatively cheap on the forum here and install it yourself.

find out what "oil part" it is. then put it on yourself and compression test it and buy it if it passes. he might be telling you it needs an oil part so you dont want to wait and just buy it, to find out it has a major problem later.

Dude. Don't buy the car without getting a compression test. That's just stupid.

I think I saw you mention you can't start it up before buying. That would be a really, really bad mistake.

Sorry, I couldn't help but post this:

go here: http://aaroncake.net/RX-7/buy2.htm for tips on what to look for in your upcoming purchase.

Don't be too hasty with buying this car, get a compression test done, and make sure it starts up! Find out what that 'oil thing' is, and you might as well since this is going to be your car. If anything happens to the car that is a result of your impatience and negligence, you are the one that's gonna take the hit to the wallet.

You have a responsibility to this car once you own it, you have an obligation to know everything about this car before, and after you buy it.

Uh they only imported 11,000 FD's... according to the registry there are maybe 7000 registered now. I live in Raleigh, NC, a decent sized city, and I see FD's slightly more often than I see Ferraris, and the ones I see are usually driven by people in the local rotary club.

that being said, in my experience S5 T2's are even more rare, but I am not sure of the production numbers so I'm not going to make a definitive statement

hmmm, red flag for the car sitting for years(what is the real reason it sat for so long?) and another red flag for an 'oil part' coming from Canada for god knows how long... the main parts wherehouse for mazda i believe is in L.A.

S5 TIIs do seem to be a bit rarer than FDs do, maybe they produced more S5s but the FDs do seem to outnumber them these days.

the mop is the Metering Oil Pump (also called the omp) that could be what you need to replace and the only internal engine oil thing i can think of that be 400 bucks
