I am not positive on the jspec v. us spec motor but I am sure someone else will be. The FCD can be located in the passenger side engine bay and I believe down where the ecu is. About the boost level, it should boost to 5.5 psi for 87-88 and 7.5 psi for 89-91. Just depends which you are looking at.

Well if it has a sunroof, then look for rust bubbles there. Also they seem to rust in the wheel wells and when you open the hatch up the drain trough. Common problems are the 3800 rpm hesitation, flooding, most of the electrical(power windows, sunroof, wipers, antenna, etc) seem to go. Check the oil and see what it looks like, lookings at the condition of the dipstick and also the condition of the oil fill tube. Also on the boost, the stock gauges does not read in psi, its some weird ****. In the 87-88s it should go up to pretty close to 40 on the stock gauge. That means if the 89-91s have the same gauge they should go up to close to 55.
