How do I check if Turbo is good? I never really worked on a Turbo before, so I don't know alot about them, also any other minor checks to do?

 

you could take off the TID, and see if there is play... but i'm not sure how keen the seller would be, if you decided to take things apart on a car you didn't own yet.

just drive it and see what it boosts till... if he has no aftermarket boost gauge. get one... and pull a vac hose off something not so importnat and see what it boosts at, at various throttle and load applications.

Also, get a friend to go with you. When you take it for a drive, have your friend follow you to see if there is any smoke coming out of the exhaust.

 

If he wont let you check out the turbo then dont buy it. Never hurt to have a good boost gauge either. Do a few up hill WOT runs in 3rd or 4th gear to see max boost.
