buying a newcar today...

Well I found this '90 RX7 close to my house, the guy wanted 1500 for it and the ad said rolling chassis. Well I called him up and talked with the guy and he told me he just put a new tranny in it so the 1500 is just so he can pay is parents off for the tranny. I told the guy 1250 is as high as I can go and he accepted it after a few hours of thought. He said it was a GTU but then he was like its the one with all the power options so I was thinking GXL. I am going to go see it tonight and prob buy it. Its black/black and he says its totaly strait and the vin checks out. Only prob with it is the engine is blown so he says. I will check compression when I get it, I want to rebuild it anyways so I can half bridge port it.

heres a pic (hes keeping the rims)

Do you think this is a good buy?

Lucky bastard. That is exactly what I am looking for to swap my engine into. However, $1250 is way high for a bad engine. I found a black one with a full RB suspension for $800, w/ the suspension!! I would buy the car for basically $200. Try and talk him down some more...

1250 isn't bad if the tranny can be proven to be new.

Alot of you guys that claim you wouldn't pay more than $200 for one with a blown motor are saying that w/ a new motor these cars are only worth ~$1500. Because we all know that you can get a rebuilt motor for $1000-1200.

I get sick of hearing that kind of bs. If the car is mint, then it is worth the money. Let us know how it goes and good luck!
