Buying FC with engine damage.
Hey guys,
I got this oppertunity to buy a '90 TII with engine damage without having seen it. I got some pics on which it looks decent, the only problem is it hasn't been moved for 3 years, and it has been sitting outside for all this time.
What would you guys say this car would be worth? Keep in mind that good TII's cost about 7-8 K Euros over here. Are there any problems I might have with a car that hasn't moved from the spot in 3 years?
I actualy wanted a car that needed a bit of work, since I though I can give my own touch, would this be a candidate?
Thanks for you advice,
Riz.

These are pix of the car:
Sorry for the humongus size, but I wanted detailed pix to show...
Yeah... LMAO!
Furb told me there are only 5 '91 TII's in the Netherlands...
The problem is the car is about 1000 miles away, and it's an auction, so I can't inspect it.

Who knows. By the end of the week $2000 might = 10 euros at the rate we are going...
I'm gonna assume that FCs aren't as common in the Europe as they are here (and even here they're pretty damn rare, IMO)...am I right?
It really depends on the condition of the car overall. I just picked up a 87 TII that had been sitting for 4 years with a 'cracked block' or so the original owner says, for 1300 bux. i had the car running fine within a matter of minutes.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
In the states, no FC is worth more than $1500 when it comes with a blown engine, but since they are very rare in the Netherlands, I might pay more as that one looks in decent shape.

Can you PLEASE downsize the pics?
As for what the car's worth, it seems like there's a huge premium on FCs over there. That car would probably go between $1k and 2k in the U.S., because one would have around $5k in it after the work it'll need.
It's probably worth more there, though.

The thing is that over here many of the TII's that are affordable are convertables... Those are about 4K Euros, coupes go for almost double that.

Don't look like it needs much at all on the outside to me, and from what I can tell the inside's probably just as nice. W/o knowing exactly what the damage to the engine is, hard to tell what it might cost to fix, but over here a good rebuild kit is about 800-900 bucks, shop would probably charge around 800-1000 bucks to pull, rebuild and re-install, maybe more. So roughly 2k USD to fix worse case scenario, unless it needs hard parts, like rotors, housings etc.

Well, I didn't win the bid... I bid 1700,- Euros, which is the max I wanted to spend on a car I hadn't even seen yet.
STill thanks for all your help guys, and in the near future I will buy one.
