Buying exhaust tonight...please help

Hey guys. I am getting ready to purchase a new exhaust. Right now I have in mind to buy the Walker Dyno-max from MazdaTrix because of budget reasons. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other exhaust systems with the same quality for a better price than $420. Any input on this system or this subject would be much appreciated also. Thanks!

Oh yeah. I have an '86 GXL. It will be a cat-back, without the cat though. I am going to have the muffler guys cut out the old cat wwhich is prolly clogged and just put some pipe in its place. Any idea on how that will sound?

get a cork sport, their cat back is single, and is only 289$ plus 23$ for a silencer

MUCH different... i just had that done

im still working out the leaks, but there is a quite NOTICEABLE louder tone to the exhaust, especially between 3-4k rpm.

if i could just get the damn leaks fixed, it woudl probably sound decent.. still a tad loud for my quiet tastes

how bout a web site for the cork sport. Also, I noticed that the RP isnt all stainless steel. I thought 7s had to have stainless exhausts or they would burn out in no time. Thats on the Mazdatrix site. Any thoughts?

im kind of keen on the idea of having each exhaust pipe / muffler / silencer / whatever being set up on each individual exhaust port.. (true duals)

my only complaint would be the volume (in general of a header setup)

i cant think of any way to retain the stock sound without making a retarded amount of backpressure which in turn would make the headers / no cats setup even worth doing..

yeah.. its a neat kind of throaty note..

on MY car, its buzzy especially at 3-4k rpm, keep in mind im chasing down leaks, and i have a specially rebuild amur_ style muffler..

so with a totally sealed system, it would probably sound ok.. its enough to make people think you have swapped out stock mufflers for aftermarket..

and remember, thats bone stock exhaust system with removed cats..

The sound is always the same just a different tone. Headers = louder me like lol

The duals still sound nice and are not annoying at idle or crusing.

one of my biggest pet peeves is droning exhaust during cruise..

im SO afraid thats what i'll get with headers and no cats..

i want it to be as quiet as i can get it.. like a sleeper exhaust system

i dont like exhaust to be too loud, and another thing i find is that if people can HEAR your car, instantly they think "RRRIIICCCEEE" cause thats what all the damn ghey tegs and civs have..

i guess they ruined the whole fun of having a loud car.. loud fartey/throaty exhaust is.. too 'popular' for me.. for lack of a better word..

stainless dynomax.. sure.. should be good

im considering the same setup..

my local stainless exhaust shop uses dynomax everything.. i see cars go in and out.. alot of performance exhaust systems backed with dynomax mufflers still get a quiet, nice tone..

but then again - ive only seen it done on teh piston engines..

You can put it on yourself man. All you need is basic tools and about two hours.
