buying exhaust in near future, looking for suggestions.

i have a 1991 n/a rx, i would like an exhaust that gives good performance, holds up well (doesnt start to rust the day i get it), sounds nice, preferably a deeper throaty tone, and i would like to keep it dual muffler in the rear, from what i've looked arround at i'm kinda leaning twards getting the racing beat streetable header and presilencer with the GReddy Power Extreme Exhaust cat-back (http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fcexhaust.html last one on that page). any suggestions would be apriciated.

I think the N/A presilencer is nearly useless, or at least not worth what RB wants for it

When I had my N1 catback, the presilencer seemed to do nothing to quiet it down. I had to put a cat in to reduce the resonance. Now I just have an RB header and catback with a straight midpipe, and honestly it sounds almost exactly the same as it did with a cat in there. The beauty here is the RB mufflers.

You may just want to get the N/A downpipe instead of a header. The header doesn't help much more than the downpipe if you are on stock ports, but it's significantly louder.

true duel would be nice, as long as i can pass emmissions for all 50 states, (dont know where i will be stationed next).

dude why are you talking about a presilencer if you need to pass emissions

it's hard enough to pass emissions on a bone stock car sometimes

maybe with the mid section i'll just end up getting a test pipe and a really restrictive cat for emmission testing, just swap it out for that.

i have herd good things about the racing beat cat-back but i prefer the looks of the greddy, i'll probubally be putting a gp sports body kit on and i think that the smaller tips wont fill it out nice enough.

n/a down pipe???? arent down pipes for turbo cars? never herd of a down pipe for a non-turbo car. whenever i get my engine rebuilt i will get the aux ports street ported along with the exhaust, and loud isnt necicarily what i'm going for, more for performance, looks and sound second that.

get a free flowing cat from rotary performance www.rx7.com that works as both emission and noise control, plus its a great piece of hardware.

As for exhaust, apexi is nice, I wouldnt go with anything smaller or bigger than 2.5in all the way through for NA. As for downpipe or headers, im not sure. RacingBeat is good, or maybe a weld shop could make you a custom downpipe for much cheaper. Again, with the muffler, Apexi is alright. Dont know what you plan on doing, if you want a dual you could go with two stainless steel borlas, that would work, cheaper, and has a throaty sound. RacingBeat would work fine too.

Yea, you can just purchase some tips. I am going to use Borla for my set up except it will be 4inch all the way through.

On my sisters TII im gonna piece together a 3in straight Borla system with only a Borla XR1 oval for a silencer and then a Borla 3in exhaust.

That is gonna make some noise... I was using a straight 3" with single muffler and it was hell on wheels... I'm now running a 3" downpipe up to about halfway (no cat) then used a Flowmaster "Y" that splits from 3" to dual 2.5" then I got the RB mufflers, they do sell them bare so you can play with them, but you will have to get the tips elsewhere because they don't sell the tips so you won't place them on any other muffler... LOL... It is a very quiet ride...

Just scroll up from the Greddy exhaust and buy the Racing Beat Header and Bonez high flo cat. That would bolt up to your cat-back and stay emissions legal.

That downpipe is a waste of time. If he ports it just another power restriction. A quality cat-back (like Greddy as he is looking at) will make it sound fine.

That presilencer is funky, but the only other option is a custom peice or a Bonez cat. So apart of it is how much work it is for himself (that and alot of shops won't do a straight pipe).

I HIGHLY reccomend the RB True Duals! Seriously! I just finished installing mine today, and at WOT, omfg, it's literally the BEASTIEST thing I've ever heard! Myk (EAGE8) agrees, it is WONDERFUL!

And it looks good, to boot..

Subtle, sophisticated looking...idle it sounds nice and polite, but as soon as you jam the throttle, WOW. It really opens up when you want it to.

Summit El Cheapo's Cost $49.95 each shipped 4" tip 6 inches around... Cost $180 including install... Sounded a bit loud but I loved them. Had Road Race header and a Catco Cat..... Really nice setup actually, plus saved a bunch of weight, the RB mufflers that were on there weighed 20+ LBS each!!! These were 5lbs...

Those actually look pretty good RRTEC. What Ypipe did you use to connect them? Couldnt you get a muffler shop to customize put everything together? Thats a great idea.
