Buying another FC

From the "How to buy" guide Here
Once the engine has warmed up, hold it at about 6K for 30 seconds then let off the throttle quickly. If you (or someone else) can see smoke coming from the exhaust, the oil seals are probably on their way out.
I read this in the How to buy guide, and was talking to a guy at Mazdatrix today. He about shat himself when I was talking about it, said I shouldnt do it. Can someone please explain why this is or why this isnt a good idea to do?

Not everyone likes for someone to come up to their house and rev up their car for about 30 seconds. I mean if i was selling the car I'd do it myself if the person asked me to do it. Like DubbayoC said, I'd beat the **** out of anyone who F- up my FC while I was trying to sell it. But I dont really get how revving it up to 6k for 30 seconds then letting go of the gas to see smoke can tell u the oil seals are going. I would like for someone to elaborate on that.

eh...you don't need to hold it there for that long, its like 5 seconds and you'll notice the smoke come up.

30 seconds? Just run it to redline once and let off...under load if you can.

As long as it's not hot, it's fine.

The "rev" test shouldn't damage the car in the least. Be suspect of anyone who doesn't let you perform the necessary tests on the car.
