Question To Buy.... Or Not to Buy?

Hello all! As you can see I am a 100% full blooded n00b.

Well, my friend has offered to sell me his RX-7 for a (what I think) good price. And in order to see if it really is a good deal, I figured I'd register on the forum and ask. So anyways, here's his car:

1988
Turbo
96K miles
No rust (which is amazing in Michigan)
Completely stock except for a CD player.

Problems:
Drivers side window stuck down
Hard Idle

PRICE: $800

I think this is a great deal, and it will help me to save miles on my daily driver. Can anyone give some advice? Also, how expensive do you think it would be to fix the Idle problem?

Bah, too many questions, not enough ambition to type them all. Thanks in advance for your help.

sounds like a great deal to me BUT I wouldn't count on your 7 as being a daily driver all the time, just remember frequent oil changes etc... look up the newbie post that tells you everything you need to know

No... this won't be my daily driver at all.

The RX-7 is to:

A. keep me from overmodding my daily driver and voiding the warranty

B. keep me from going over my allotted miles (stupid leases)

C. Give me something to *tinker* with

And about oil changes... I am super religious about making sure they are done every 3K or sooner.

hey Ryde:
After you take off the door panel, you hvae to peal away at the plastic lining...i just poked a hole through it cuz it started pissing me off... You need a 10mm socket and at least a 6" extension.

roll the window down till you can see the bolts through the holes in the metal. unbolt the window, and pull out very slowely. (too bad our cars have a full surround built into the door) it should come out.

now look through those same holes and you should see the bolts to the window motor, unbolt those and you should be able to slide the motor out of the bigger hole in the metal.

when putting it back in, make sure you put the little linked ***** back inside the rubber that comes on the motor.

thats the best i can think of to describe it without pics..

It's hard to say, but this could be a Vacuum leak, which could just mean finding a line that might be leaking somewhere, if so its realy quite cheap...

I'm from Allen Park, MI.... Close to Detroit if you don't recognize the exact city. About an hour away from Clarkston.
