300 real ones were destroyed! Assuming an average price of $25,000 per car and adding the $2.4M it cost to build the closed highway loop, that scene must have cost around $10 million dollars, 3/4 of which was fronted by GM.

The only other car I remember was the black Audi in the beginning. mmm...
The Rx-8 in X2 sounded sweet
yeah but GM gives their cars to the movie at COST..
all of GMs vehicles are barely worth 10,000 at cost.. everything else is profit
(well the 10,000 figure came from my butt.. but you understand what i mean.. GMs vehicles at cost are REALLY REALLY cheap)

I love that movie, it's on comedy central all the time.
There was a 1st gen on speed channel on a drifting competition, and it was awsome, they showed about 2 seconds of it, and then cut back to the cheap, and crappy 240 SX's and MKI and MKII supra's (better than 240) And then they said that was the only cars the people used to drift in, right after showing a first gin going perfect all the way around a corner.
hehe thats ALL driver on the drifting clip you saw on SPEED. 240's, especially the old school fastbacks make GREAT drifters which is why it's the most popular car for youth "racers" in Japan. FC's are REALLY popular choices in Japan too but the Silvia is not as complicated to work with and those rotary tuners must be $$ to deal with!!

Well you can import the Silvia motor from Japan and put it in various Nissans.....It's becoming more common around here, but there is some $$ involved. I was actually looking for a 240SX to play around with for a while, ended up with the 7 instead.
the KA engine isn't that bad for a daily driver/weekend autocrosser. Aggresive cams really wake the engine up in the top of the rev range and there are a multitude of turbo kits available for decent $$. Together they shift the powerband upward and make BIG gains...the block is pretty stout and will take 10 psi without trouble on say a T3/T4 and FMIC w/ proper fuel. That makes for one HELL of a quick street car w/ torque up the wazoo!!!! I've always liked early 240 fastbacks (SE models).

For what it costs to get the Silvia motor, unless I was going to go all out and try and make a true beast out of the car, I would just turbo the stock 2.4 over getting the SR20DET, but that's just me.
I still wouldn't mind having a 240...we'll see how much I like my SE when it hits the road, and go from there.
