Castrol GTX 20w50. My original motor lasted to 280,000 miles on that oil.

Use to run castrol 10-30, now i run mobile 1 in both the mazda and subie, both 10-30 however next summer ill switch to a slightly heavyer oil. I went on a 1500mile rally over the summer and after 4 hours of 100+mph oil pressure droped about 8-10lbs peak, however if i took a break and the car cooled presure would return to 80ish

no ida on oil temps, dont have an oil temp gauge.

It can be hard to find sometimes, especially since you're in Canada. I get mine at wholesale from a local distributer in 12-quart cases, but it should normally run anywhere from $8.50-10.00 US per quart. You can buy it directly off the website for about 9.50.

On the topic, the best premix oil I know of is from Idemitsu as it was designed specifically for a rotary engine, and was the oil running in the RX-7 that won the LeMans. As of this writing though, I know nothing of their four cycle oil or how it compares, other than it is a GroupIV POA oil which is measurably inferior to a GroupV POE as far as resistance to thermal breakdown.

Cool thanks man. Hopefully I can find some in the area, or else I'll have to order it. Which would suck, because if I ever needed oil I would have to order and wait for it. So we'll see.

Do you have a carquest in your area? Over here I can pick up Redline for about 6.50ish a quart. Carquest has the best prices I've seen out of all the auto stores. Could be different in other areas though.

Autometer sells a dual guage and a single gauge pod, take 5 minutes and search on Yahoo! and you would be fine (or go to http://www.corksport.com or the other 55 million sites that carries Autometer).

I use Valvoline or Halvoline from Wal-Mart, one or the other is usually on sale .

Yes, I get all my paint from them. Never thought to ask... Well, I shall when I go in to get what I need to make the change from Noble to Crystal. It's not the same kind of CarQuest, but they should know.

last time it was Castrol GTX, but this time, after letting the car sit for around 8 months (was in Georgia with the other car), I put in Quaker State 'Q' 10w30 does any1 know if there is a reason why that one is bad? I have some kind of bad feeling about it... most likely because I noticed a couple of oil drops in the driveway... always running synthetic tho, and this time I switched to an oil filter built for synthetic as well

I've used:

Royal Purple 10w30 and 20w50
Idemitsu 10w30
Castrol 5w30, 10w30 and 20w50
Shell 5w30, 10w30 and 20w50.
Mobil 1 10w30

No problems yet:

My next oil change will be a synthetic blend of random oils, just for fun

1.2 quarts Mobil 1 10w30 1 quart Mobil 1 5w30 1 quart Shell 10w30 1 quart Shell 5w30 with 1 quart Castrol GTX 10w30 serving as my top-off oil.

Switching brands shouldn't matter...

The oil filter should not be designed for the oil.
It should be designed to trap debris.
Running synthetic doesn't change the debris and particle characteristics, so it's stupid to be advertising an oil filter that's designed for synthetics!
