Brakes once again giving me headaches...
Okay, not so bad. I didn't hit anyone. Or kill anyone. I broke my rear brake hard line. It happened at the rear line holding connector before it goes up over the sub-frame. How am I going to fix this easily? Can I bend a new line in there without dropping the sub-frame? Or can I use some sort of flex line, like found here? It does say up to 2500 psi... I'm really trying to find a way to do this without removing the line holders, as they are quite rusted on where they bolt on. Help!!!! thank you in advance
Don't use flex line where you don't have to, it will increase the spongyness in the pedal. You can buy the whole line from mazda or get a length of brake line from a parts store and a flaring kit and go to town. Did it rust through? If you see any rust, I would definitely replace the line.
Yeah, it rusted through. I didn't want to take off the old hangers seeing as the bolts are rusted on there. I'm afraid of breaking the studs off and getting screwed as far as a hanger goes. The bolts look so rusted that any pressure trying to turn them will probably make the entire stud break into a million pieces. and the rear flare nut from that hard line doesn't look so nice either.
NAPA (and most other parts stores) carry lengths of generic (i.e., unbent) hard line that already have the flares/fittings.
Just bend to shape and install.
Or, you could get the real thing from Mazda.
Either option would be less expensive than a custom SS line.
Can I get a fully bent line from Mazda for less than 35$ with the flare nuts on them? It has to go from the pressure differential switch to the rear split link-in. I was going to bend it myself, but I felt that I couldn't get the flare nuts off, especially the large one on the rear split. Just curious if anyone knows.
