Brake Trouble

Hi Guys

My left rear caliper recently seized on me. The problem went away for a bit but is back now. The E-brake seems to stick closed sometimes, but it works fine during normal braking without E-brake.
The mechanic told me that there is a screw in the caliper unit that activates the E-brake, and that it is probably rusted. He said I'll have to replace the whole caliper for this thing even though the pistons are fine and everything else seems to work. Does this sound right?? I don't want to pay for a new caliper just because this little E-brake screw is stuck.
What do you think? Has anyone experienced something like this before?
Thanks

I don't know if his diagnosis is right, but there is a screw that the piston rides on, and it's integral to the caliper, so yes, it's important. I recommend just getting a rebuilt caliper and putting that on. Don't run with it like this, you'll overheat the pad on that wheel if it's stuck, and your braking will be unstable with one caliper not fulling engaging/disengaging.

The mechanic did suggest getting a rebuilt caliper. He said it would be around $150 CAN. But does the Turbo have a different rear caliper than the other RX-7's? He told me there were two kinds available (one for hard suspension and one for soft). I had never heard of that.
I just don't like the idea of getting another caliper when mine works except for the E-Brake.

Do you have any brake pad suggestions? I could replace the back ones while the calipers are off.

Thanks
