Brake and suspension Q's...

I am replacing the front rotors and pads on my TII, and I was wondering what I should do with the calipers... I have never driven this car so I have no idea how the brakes work, but I knew the front brakes were worn and rusted. So I got new rotors and pads to replace. But should I rebuild the calipers? Do they usually fail? I hear it is hard to rebuild them and I am only so mechanically inclined. But should I go ahead and do it or what?

Also, since I have all this stuff off, I guess I am going to throw some shocks on it I guess. What do you recommend? I don't have much money and it will be used for drag racing/street driving, so nothing to stiff. Thanks guys.

If the pistons in the calipers compressed properly, you should be alright. If it was a P.I.T.A to compress the pots, you may be looking at some seizing problems. Check for rust, seal condition, ec. Might wanna do a bleed the whole brake system and get some fresh fuild in there too while you're at it.

This is a good suspension upgrade for cheap and it is good for street use or autocross etc.
Suspension Package 86-92 RX-7

Part Number: SuspensionPackage86-92
Retail Price: $429.30
Qty:

1986-92 RX-7 Suspension Package
(Except convertible)

Improve the handling of your RX-7 with a Racing Beat Suspension Package. Take advantage of our special pricing on a set of Racing Beat suspension springs and sway bars. All packages offer a 10% savings over the retail price, that’s a $47.00 savings!

Let’s start with a set of Racing Beat’s performance springs. Designed by Jim Mederer, Racing Beat’s co-founder and chief engineer, to offer improved handling with a modest 1-inch drop in ride height with a 20% spring rate increase. Perfect for street or autocross applications, these springs will interchange exactly with the stock springs.

Next, we add a set of our precision sway bars. These sway bars are designed to reduce chassis-roll in turns and increase the RX-7’s sensitivity to steering input, thereby improving maximum cornering power. Both front (1.125” OD) and rear (.625” OD) bars are forged and machined in-house, then powder-coated with a durable automotive coating. Each bar comes complete with all mounting hardware, urethane bushings, lubricant, and instructions.

If your RX-7 has logged many miles (75,000+) on those tired old shocks, now may be the time to consider replacing them with a new set of performance shocks. We suggest either KONI or Tokico shocks as suitable replacements. The Racing Beat suspension Package includes:
14020 Springs – Front (Net Price $60.00) $54.00/ea
14021 Springs – Rear (Net Price $60.00) $54.00/ea
14103 Front Sway Bar (Net Price $140.00) $126.00
14104 Rear Sway Bar (Net Price $97.00) $87.30

Regular Price for the above package - $477.00

Special Package Price - $429.30

(Save $47.70)
