Brake Problems
Brake Problems
ok, so a couple days ago i went to go to work and my brake pedal went almost to the floor but still worked. and when i pumped the pedal, it got better. i bled the brakes but one of the bleeders was stripped. left it over night, grabbed a new caliper, put it on bled them again. they were a little spongey but worked good, then today they just hit the floor again, fluid is going down, but not very fast, maybe a 1/4 inch for yesterday and today, but there is no fluid anywhere. plus something clicks when the pedal is fully depressed any ideas?
i was thinking the master cylender
thanks

Ok, I am pretty sure you have air in your lines. Bleeding brakes are a pain. I had this problem for over a month, if u put your car on a lift press ur pedal down. As you said it works but not till the end of the pedal correct? If so your back brakes are not working or have very little pressure. Should make since as the front lines are shorter so the front half of the pedal is front and the rear is the second half of the pedal length. Any ways i bleed, bleed bleed and gravity bleed. I bleed the **** out of my brakes but no matter what i did i couldnt get the air out. So we put it on a lift and used a Vaccum Bleeder. This hooks up to a air compressor, your local goodyear should have one, just ask them to use this on your brakes. These work great, you suck the fluid out while someone fills, You should suck all the old fluid out. How do u know when your fluid is fresh you may ask well ATE brake fluid has a amber brake fluid and a blue brake fluid. You switch colors eacch time to ensure you are using fresh fluid. Also the vaccum bleeder pretty much ensures there will be no air in your lines period you suck the fluid out and tighten the bleeder screw while your still sucking it out ensuring a airless line.

Thats the tool. Like i said call goodyear/ or another local shop someone will have one and just request they use that. However DO NOT USE PRESSURE BLEEDERS the put more air in the system. Not all of them do but they are very known to do that.

There is the brake fluid i suggest. My mechanic/ friend (not really a mechanic) but thats what i call him is an ex ALMS racer. He used this same fluid in his GT2 track car. The super blue racing and the ate typ 200 are the two fluids i would switch each use if you decide to use it. One is blue the other is amber they have the exact same specs. Just different colors for bleeding purposes.

you can check to see if its a BMC problem. just pop off the master from the booster and if its wet at all back there you have a bad MC. if the bleeding doesnt fix it that would be my guess.
