Brake Problems?

Ok here's the deal.
I have an 88 TII

My brakes have been shitty for a while, I suspected bad pads but they don't squeak and they are only bad intermittently. I push on the brakes and sometimes it barely stops and the pedal goes all the way to the floor, if I pump it a bit it gets firm again. Sometimes it works really well and stops great and the pedal is firm.

Today I noticed that when I am at a stop, and I turn my wheel I can feel it in my break pedal, like it's hitting something, and it makes a small clunking noise.

Are these things related? Any ideas what my problem might be?

what you described about your brake pedal points to your master cylinder needing to be replaced.

Check your brake fluid, and check your brake lines. Basically, inspect all that has to do with brakes, but most likely it's the master cylinder.

You've got air in the lines or the master is going out.
See if the lines or the area around the master cylinder is leaking. It will get worse.
