Brake master cylinder and Reservoir Help!!

OK, I just replaced my brake master cylinder and tighten all the nuts, but I'm having a hell of a time trying to put the reservoir back on the master cylinder. I can get the bushing between the master cylinder and reservoir to fit in either part, but just not on both! Is there any tick or technique in doing this? Do I put the bushing in the master cylinder first and try to pushing the reservoir into or vice-versa? Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I have been messing with this thing for the last couple of hours! Thanks.

did you lubricate everything with brake fluid? Also, you sure the "new" master cylinder is OEM?

Yes, I lube the bushing. it's not OEM, but a remanufactured unit I got at AutoZone and it's exactly the same as the unit I took out.

I just rebuilt mine, but I didn't take the reservoir off since the rebuild kit didn't have the bushings in it, but I'm thinking you might have to take the master cylinder back off so you can put some "oomph" on the reservoir without bending or breaking anything on the car...

The one I got came with new bushings and I think my old bushing was going bad anyways. I hope there's an easier way, because i really don't want to take the cylinder back out. Thanks for the suggestion, thou. So, does anyone else any other suggestion or have gone through the same problem?

Replaced the master cylinder last week on mine! TAKE it back off. A LOT of force is necessary to reseat the reservoir. Took me about 15 minutes of pushing to get it to seat properly!

Did you guys have to have the cylinder out of the car when putting the reservoir in or did you put the reservoir in with the cylinder install on the car? I guess from the sound of it, either way I'm going to have to use alot of force to get this thing to go in and it's probably alot safe and easier if I take the cylinder back out of the car first. Thanks for the input.
