The brake warning light on the dash???

Then you probably have low brake fluid.

well there are four things that can switch on the brake warning light (not to be confused with the stop warning light).

#1 low brake fluid or a disconnected sensor in the brake master

#2 the parking brake being on

#3 the wire to the parking brake handle pinched or shorted

#4 the alt has failed and the alt warning relay has activated (but more than likely other warning lights will be on as well).
