brake light comes on and off

for the last few days my brake light has been coming on when i hit the brakes and then it goess of when i let off the brake. but it was inconsistent. but yesterday, its been doing all day and today so far too . when i hit the brakes the light comes on and when i let go it goess off. i checked the brake fluid but the car was hot so at that point it said it was full but i know your soppose to check it when cold so ill do that again tonight when cold. i replaced all the brakes a few months back so they all have new brake pads. checked the lights in the back they all come on i even replaced two of them but nothing .
any insight? did a search and came up with other thread on brake lights but his was on all the time and mine just comes on when i hit the brakes and goes right back off.

Do you meaning the warning light in your console?

If so, you have two warning lights that are brake related. One for your lamps and one for your brake fluid level/parking brake. Which one is lighting?

I would dare to suggest a burnt brake light or a bad contact at one of the brake light sockets.

i have had the light come on before when i had a burned out light bulb in the rear but non are burnet out. the one that lights up is the one that has Brake written on it. in the warning cluster on the dash. just comes on when you hit the brakes. i have not noticed any difference in the braking its all there.

light coming on, on the dash is a bad bulb connection or bad bulb or a CPU that needs resoldering.

Lightbulb Sensor

Getting same symptoms.

I thought it was emergency brake nudging off of full release like it sometimes does, but it is getting persistant.
If that light has both the emergency brake and brake fluid, it makes sense.
Pointed downhill or braking seems to make the brake fluid sensor sense fuller. Uphill or accelerating seems to cross the threshold and it turns on the light.

Tonight's car project...

Stop = bad bulb or bad CPU sensor
Brake = low fluid, parking brake on or bad idiot light cluster.

when in doubt fill the fluid reservoir to the top. i've done this on a few fc's to fix the light problem. if it's not that, then you only spent a couple bucks to find that out.

A couple tablespoons of brake fluid made the light stay off.

Next nice day it will be time to check the brake pads to see if pad wear is why the reservoir was low... (and monitor for dreaded leaks)
