Unhappy Brake Fluid Problem!

My 87 GXL drains brake fluid faster than a gallon of gas! I'm having to buy a bottle of brake fluid every week. Could there be a leak somewhere? Peddle feel is soft and the front brakes squeal a little. Thinking about seeing a mechanic but if it's something simple I'd rather not.

brake fluid is leaking. It could be at the caliper (rubber lines, boot possibly) or it could be the metal lines.

All are fairly inexpensive parts-wise... but the labour? OHHHH BOY!

well... the rubber lines are like 1 hr labour to replace...
but it gives you good reason to upgrade to aftermarket ones.

If you have an ABS system, 5 bux says that the ABS box is leaking and you probably are missing all kinds of paint off the bottom of your frame.

(happened to me!)

Have someone step on the pedal while you look at all of the connections. If it's comming out that fast you can probably see it comming out. Failing that look for standing liquid or accumlations of brake dust/dirt. It's running somewhere and you can probably see where.
