Bought my first FC! It's a 'vert!
I just bought my first FC yesterday (labor day)! I'm very happy w/ her, but have a few questions. First the details:
1991 N/A Convertible (Targa Top).
199k mi.
Rough body (banged on 3 corners)
Rough seats (pretty ripped, will need replaced)
Rag Top has a few rips but nothing major (will need replaced before too long)
Runs and drives fine, although I've only taken it around the block.
She's not pretty but has a lot of potential -- and I feel like I got a good deal on a project car, so that's all that matters, right?
It does smoke when it starts up, so help me out, but I'm assuming this has to do w/ the Oil Metering possibly leaking after shutoff?
Also, as far as the body panels -- some are probably bad enough that I'll go ahead and replace them. They're not terribly caved in, but they've been pushed back out and are pretty "cottage cheesed" and wavy now, so a replace will probably save me a few headaches and time. Are the body panels the same on 'Verts vs. non verts? I'm assuming from the doors forward that they are, and behind the doors not, but I wasn't sure. Also, where do I locate body panels (besides a junkyard)??
I've attached the only (bad) pic that I have right now -- more will follow once I take some pics of my own. Please take a look at her, I'm a proud father once again!
I'm sure this will be the beginning of a beautiful relationship, but will look to this forum as I'm sure I'll have many questions!

Congratulations on getting your first RX.
Looks like you have your work cut out for you!
Did you happen to get a compression test before you bought the car?
Also, a "targa" top is a removable roof panel (Viper, Vette, Supra, Del Sol) not a true vert like yours.
Keep us posted on your progress.
