Bought a auto 87 gxl.

I was wondering if that auto should be able to spin the tires.

It seems like it has decent power, but I cant even get the wheels to spin.

If your talking about a standing burnout thats your cars way of telling you how bad that is for it.
from a dead stop flooring it with out the brake on should give you a small squeal, the gxl has a posi and if you have sticky tires with the stock converter and an engine with miles on it, will never do a v8 cammaro tire roasting take off.

rotary engines do not produce low end torque, period, end of story. Unless you can get your rpms up, you won't be seeing the tires spinning.

Try down shifting into second gear on a nice left or right hand turn and keep the rpms above 5k, you should see those tires spinning : )

Edit: nevermind, i saw you had an automatic...... try flooring it while having the steering wheel full lock left or right, when the rpms reach the sweet point that should get them spinning.

Well thats a s4

you dont got a hold button, put it in the L or whatever you got, if you did a tune up on your 7 you should be good to go, take a left or right turn, while almost punching it, punch it then tighten the turn, boom yoru wheels will be cherping

I can break em loose till the very very 1st (S5, idk bout s4) gear hits 8k rpm which is about 40mph, but as said above rotaries dont got torq under 3krpm, and in a auto if you drop it in at 8k or 200k rpm, whatever, it'll just go to the lowest gear, i was going 30, stalled cause of some ******** cutting me off, turned on in N at about 30ish, pushed the throttle as i was ticked as I put it in L I herd the rev buzzer go off, didnt even lurch

Our autos are weak crap, our mustang 2.6L will light them up half throttle

I don't mean to knock you, but as a recommendation for the OP and for anyone driving an automatic don't plan on doing this if you want your transmission to last.
