i have my ports wired open so i dont really need the airtube, but if i took it off what am i going to block the opening that the airtube connects to the back of the engine?

The small tube on the pipe is for backpressure- needed to activate the 6ports on 86-88's. Block it off... Pinch it (If it's brass like you said) or whatever.
As for the pipe from the back of the engine to the cat-
It's to provide fresh air (Oxygen) to the cat, just take it right off where there is a silver cone/disc shaped thing about 12 inshes from the back of the engine. That is a one-way valve. Just pull it out of the hose in front of it- no need to block anything off. Get the whole pipe out of the way

If I were you I would remove the 6 port sleeves entirerely. It's much better than having them wired open.
Since you don't have a cat, I would get rid of the air pump and ACV while you're at it. Your VDI won't be actuated, but it's not too bad, just leave it in high or low(pop the actuator rod off the the VDI linkage, takes 2 seconds) - whatever feels better for you.

IMO I say the pipe, removed sleeves, removed AP is good for about 20HP at high RPM (most from getting rid of the cat) You won't really gain any low end torque though...
Too bad you just bought a new race pipe- I've got a pipe w/presilencer for sale- like 60 bucks US or whatever, only a year old. ....

Good luck-

Why have them wired open when that tube works great? All you need to do is clean them up and get them moving freely. Working six ports are the coolest thing NA's have! I just wish my TII had the torque down low that my Sport does.

you said to take that airtube off where that little cone one-way valve is, do you mean to take the whole cone valve completely off? cause i dont see where you could take it off under the valve that way air/leak up into the engine.

I answered you in the reply to the PM you sent me..
Oh, I forgot you have an 88- you don't have the VDI, so don't worry about that (In my last post!)

I agree- if you're six ports are working properly- then keep them!
Mine were slow, and one was jammed, but I didn't really notice a difference when I cleaned them up- probably just me.
The only reason you should take them out is if they are messed up somehow beyond repair- or you have a HEAVILY modified engine THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM THE EXTRA FLOW (eg. ported- tons of bolt ons, etc..) - The flow through the secondaries is much better withouth the sleeves and actuator rod in place. I didn't really notice much difference in low end when I took mine out- but the top end is noticably more powerful from 6000-8000. I notice much more difference from switching the VDI from high to low...
I know I'm off topic now- but- to anyone looking to electronically actuate the VDI- Some people think you need an RPM activated switch.... you don't the ECU sends a signal to the solenoid at 5200 RPM's- just use that and rig a power door lock solenoid where the VDI actuator diaphragm is. Same with the six ports.
Just look on fc3s.org/ecu1.html for the pin id.
