The wing looks good molded in like that. I'd like to see some better pics of it.

You should have waited to do the bodywork and got some flares from me as it sounds like you'll need them with that V8 conversion
The orange peel is actually in the clearcoat, the black underneath is silky smooth. It'll get wet sanded in a couple weeks once I'm sure that the paint has all gassed out (well mostly).

I'd buy your flares (they kick ***, and it's a great price) but unfortunately, it turns out wheels for those are expensive. For the mean time I'll just have fun turning money into tire smoke with my 275s.

do you tape off the underside at all before you paint? or do you just not go to the underside of the car at all

The bottom of the car was already cleaned and undercoated before I painted. I didn't tape it, as any overspray down there would be pretty minimal.

Did some more sanding, taking out the dry spray and bringing up the shine. So far it's coming out great. I still have a LOT of work to do (only most of the front fenders and the front bumper done so far). Hood is next up.

The tape on the fenders is so that I don't cut into the finished sections while I work on the hood/doors. Keep in mind, this still needs compounded and glazed, so the shine will still come up at lot. Even as is, I can see myself like a mirror from 4-5 feet away. It's not perfect paint, but it's pretty damned good,a nd I'm thrilled for a garage paint job in the middle of November. :yeah:

The bronze wheel is the final color of the wheels. That one was a test sample to see if I liked it. I do.

Now don't be hating too much...

I picked up a couple badges to put on my car. I don't like to advertise too loudly, but I thought these added the right "touch" to the car. Besides, by the time someone sees these, it'll be too late anyway.

The rectangular badge is the "GM Performance Division" badge from the newer Vette's/CTS-V etc. The V8 badge is off of a current model DC product of some type.

Anyway, a few pictures...

How soon 'til you can roll it out of the garage and give us some 'finished' pics?

I've been considering a 'garage' paint-job ever since I rattle-canned my '87 N/A and found out that I really enjoyed painting. Even if I was forced to use the 'cave-man' method of canned paint, lol.

Thankfully, I'd be spraying white paint, which of course is a more "forgiving" color than black.

I commend you for taking initiative and learning/doing something that you can truly be proud of.

It will probably be ready to roll out of the garage in 2-3 months most likely. I still have to do some engine bay work, rewire the LS1, redo the front brake lines, get the wheels resprayed, and finish my fuel system. THEN, I can bring it out in daylight for some good pictures.
