BNR stage 4 Turbo, second impressions.

After replacing the motor due to sheer stupidity on my part, I got the new motor (another stock port) in the car.

The Stage 4 seems to react EXTREMELY well (and why shouldnt it), to good tuning. With AFRs in the high 10s to mid 11s, it spools wonderfully, with full boost coming at or around 4000. Pulls are nice and linear, and I havent even stretched the turbo's legs yet (only tuned to 10 PSI for now).

All in all, I say its a great product, and for those that are having problems.. TRY A WIDEBAND! It might solve your spooling problems.

How many times did I say that?

Glad to hear it's running good. I'm ready for my ride, maybe if I get over there this weekend.

So your boosting on a rebuild??? I thought that's No-No.

Or did you just do a few small runs to get some AFR's in place?

You bought a Wide band? Right on!

I haven't waste my money on a narrowband because of the crappy tuning ability. I was almost thinking of getting a wide band.

First I have to get the CF TII hood and a new exhaust though. My Cork sport IS LOUD!!!!!!!

I think he put in a j-spec or similar. Don't think it was a fresh rebuild.

How come you didnt port it before you swapped in the new motor? A nice little (or medium, or agressive) streetport would've been a nice addition to the setup

From some recent pictures you've posted, it looked like you were still using the stock intercooler? That's gotta be heatsoaking the second you stop the car, especially in that bakin hot Arizona sun.

before the turbo upgrade it did 187 at 11psi. with the stage 2 it did 235 at 10psi... it was 90 degrees that day. we put a thermo on the TMIC and it read over 200 degrees.

im putting in a fmic soon, but when i dyno at 13psi this saturday im gonna put a bag of ice on the TMIC.

You guys dont miss a trick, do ya?

As a matter of fact, thats one of the reasons I stopped at 10PSI. A FMIC is on the way.

more humidity is better for a dyno run, isn't it?

so j-rat is the boost response better now than before?

No, humidity kills power.

Funny, I had no problem dialing in these turbos with just an EGT...

Which EGT gauges do you use for tuning? I've been looking for ones that go higher than normal ones since rotaries run so hot, any input on which specific gauge you use? Thanks.

Almost any of the Japan ones run higher.
I've used HKS, GReddy, A'PEXi, and Defi.
