Blue relief solenoid question
i was wondering about the effects of the blue relief solenoid being unplugged and remaining that way. I am aware that it prevents the air pump from pumping air into the exhaust ports and instead it diverts it to the silencer in the right fender. But since i have an s5 and my actuators are ran off of the air pump would this prevent them from opening? What other things does the blue solenoid control or effect? generally would this cause any issues or benefits if i drove my car without it plugged in?

The relief solenoid just controls what you already said. It operates the relief valve, which allows air pump air to vent above 3600 RPM (FSM page F1-63). Since this valve is normally open anyhow when the aux. ports and VDI would be activated, leaving it open permanently should have no effect these systems.
Is there a reason you want to unplug it? There's no benefit.

thanks
well i believe i may have a problem with my port air system. on my wide band it says i have a really lean mixture around 21 when i have the port air going on, and i know that when i disable it i get my true a/f ratio (which mine is about 13), so i wanted to know if i could disable it so i could always see my true a/f ratio while im driving (just because), and also 21 seems really high for the system to be functioning properly. i heard the port air would only bring my a/f ratio to like 17 or so. so i was curious if i could disable it until i go through and troubleshoot everything for any problems.
thanks btw
