I know that if you had an old fox body mustang that came in blue it instantly knock X amount of dollars of the resale price. I believe the color was known as 'Loser Blue'.
maybe people just dont like blue?

The midnight blue color is VERY rare. A buddy of mine has a '91 TII that's midnight blue - no kidding, real deal factory paint color. It's GORGEOUS - the blue is almost black.
I do wish they would have made '89-91 TII's in the "regular" blue - looks really sharp. Or at least made more midnight blues .
Dang, Ted, I figured you would have known that one...

Two blues and a grey, "screw red, blue is the ****." screw yellow two.
that's my opinion. although there are many red and yellow fcs that would stomp my slow blue ones.

I think the blue that S5's came in was called harbour blue. I didn't know midnight blue Rx-7's existed. Must be rare. Code is 5n??? This is interesting.

I did some looking into this and 5n is none other than brave blue mica. Here's the code sheet I scrounged up. If you want to see different years, just change the year in the html code.

Just as a sidenote, not sure about everyone else, but my riveted plack with the paint code info among other tidbits is on the passenger side of the firewall beside the VIN stamping. In case people are having a hard time finding it.
So calling it midnight blue, it seems like dcfc3s didn't know it either, so Ted is in the clear.

Hmmmm
The link you provided showed 5N but didn't show as a valid colour for a RX7, only for a 626?
Here is a link to a picture of my car, a 1991 with the colour in question:

When I dropped by the local dealership, they didn't believe me that it was a stock colour, that was until they ordered in a door handle for me colour coded 5N

If you notice there's dots beside some colours for the Rx-7 that we never saw, maybe nobody did and the list is entirely inaccurate, but like I said 5n is on the plack so it's indisputable, and the door handle came in the right colour so that's a good cross reference.
In Gran Turismo II and 3, the S5 is available in BBM, therefore it must exist more often in Japan, and looks like a few got decked out for our market. Probably some guy in the paint booth took it upon himself to treat the North Americans.
