blows smoke above 5000 RPM
okay, my '87 13b in my 1st gen finally runs and works great.... BUT, it blows HUGE amounts of smoke whenever its rev'd above ~5-5.5k rpm... it doesnt matter if im sitting and i slowly rev it up with no load, or im ***** to the wall down the street.. it blows smoke ONLY above 5-5.5k. it doesnt burn any smoke at all below 5-5.5... what could this be?
it sat for about 2 years, and i just started running some MMO through it to try to help. its been doing it even since i got it running.
thanks
mike

ok i'll attack this one as I had a similar problem about 4 months ago.... Follow these steps....
1- take off you radiator cap, check fluid level, put it back on.
2- Check your oil level
3- change oil using 20w50 oil (castrol gtx)
4- Buy some cd-2 (silver bottle) oil treatment (has to be cd2 in silver bottle) $2.99 at walmart or autozone
5- Warm up the motor then pour the bottle cd-2 in there while it's running,
6- Drive home gingerly and wait till the next day...
7- wake up....go start the car, let it run untill warmed up
8- DRIVE THE **** OUTTA IT!!!! No smoke anymore....
Do this every oil change and you won't see that nasty smoke screen again. It happens becaus ethe oil control rings are going bad......But this is a semi-perminent fix...good luck.

cool... right on
yeah, if it wasnt keeping me from driving hard, it makes for a great get-off-my-***-or-get-an-assload-of-smoke thing
ill give that a try tomorrow

yeah, when something is seriously wrong... it may run forever just fine like this, but frankly, its embarassing, and i'd like to minimize it.
its kind of frustrating when im autocrossing, when im making so much smoke that after a couple laps i cant see the track anymore, you know?

ur oil rings are gone if youre blowing it blue smoke or coolants seals are gone if youre blowing out whitish greyish smoke .. you can run like that but sooner or later u will need a rebuild..
