blown rear end

blown rear end

i have an 89 GTUs and it was my understandind that the diffs were almost impossible to hurt

i just disintergrated mine when i shifted to second @ about 20psi
has any one had trouble with these with high hp and tq ??

i don't want to put another one in and just blow it again

For NA then yes, they're quite durable, but they weren't designed for nearly that power. The best bet is to swap in a TII rear end, it's larger and stronger.

i was informed that the GTUs has the same rear as the t2 the only difference being that it has the 4.30 gears
is that not correct ?

no that is wrong. the gtus is a non turbo rear diff with 4.30 gears and a limited slip.

I have broken two NA diffs. One open and one LSD. Both in a Streetport NA car. Not to mention 4 Transmissions. I am now running a TII driveline and see how it holds up. If you can, find a complete parts car and transplant the entire driveline and part the rest.
