Blown motor 88 n/a dies shortly after start up
The engine in my 88 vert recently blew the rear rotor. I was advised to drive the car to get it fixed, knowing that it would be down on power and run basically very crappy. The car basically starts right up and holds a very rough idle as could be expected. After about 5 seconds there is a very audible seemingly electric click, after which the car dies regardless of the position of the gas pedal. During the time it runs, the pedal does work and revs the engine properly. I have not tried unplugging the fuel injectors nor the oil injectors to the rear rotor, but aside from slightly decreased power and wasted fuel, I can't see the advantage of doing this. If anyone has had similar problems driving their blown motor N/A, please chime in and let me know what to do to get it running at least well enough to be driveable. Thanks!

You were advised to drive the car???? What for??? Just to make sure it gets completely f'ed up??? Call a tow truck buddy... and whoever advised you to drive it does not care about you much, safety first...
I drove it a couple miles to get it home, during which it ran about like you'd expect it to run with one rotor! Then I did the compression check, fine on the front rotor, nothing on the back one. As much as anything, the fact that it makes a loud click like a solenoid and then stops has be curious. Clogged converter or Mazda's attmept to prevent destroying the Cat? Most likely I'll put a rebuilt or used motor in it anyway.
Thanks,
Thanks,
