blown main fuse, dead battery overnight
Car battery is dead overnight but runs fine with no problems when jumped. Checked the battery , its good, as well as the alternator. There's gotta be an open circut somewhere drawing on the battery-right? So how do you find it? I also checked all the fuses and found the main fuse blown but I cant figure out why.. Are these related or seperate issues? The only thing wrong with the car otherwise is a headlight motor is toast - source of the problem? Any ideas? Thanks!

Once you replace the main fuse, do a little troubleshooting- disconnect the headlight motor however you wish (pulling the "retractor" fuse, pulling the motor's connector apart, etc), then see if a new or recharged batt works for ya. If you know how, you could also measure the amp drain using a meter in series with the neg or pos batt cable run, with or without that fuse in to see if there's any change.
Check your alternator cable run, from the top of the alt, through the harness, to the splice near the batt pos terminal and main fuse box. Make sure the cable is not touching or chaffing on any metal surfaces, this would be one of a couple of things that could blow that main fuse...
Also check your retractor & headlight wiring behind the headlight assy (particularly the one giving you problems), the wiring in there has to bend every time the lights go up & down, and something may have broken and shorted to ground...
