block off gaskets

I have an 86 gxl and 2 off the block off plates im not to sure what to do i know the bac has a gasket but i thought rtv would work on that and im not to sure it is and the other is the omp but theres only an o ring for that and oil keeps slipping past the rtv i put on there. Any ideas? Thanks!!!!

Just get a roll of paper gasket from autozone or pep boys, some high temp RTV, and just put a thin coat on each side of the gasket, and torque the plate down.

straight RTV works fine (Permatex Ultra Black etc). I have pressure tested blockoff plates to 15psi that only had RTV.

yeah well i caked the omp with rtv and its still leaking!

In that case, get the o-ring and daskets for all plates. It'll cost you like 20$ at the dealer. If you cant afford that, then you cant afford to own a 25 year old car.

oh i can afford it believe me ive dumped alot of time and money into her already. But i know the gaskets arent that cheap cause ive gotten some from the dealer already!
