Question Black Magic 150

Alright so, I'm getting ready to make a vmic kit and I know that I'm going to need an e-fan.

After hitting up the FAQ, the only one that I've found to be worth picking up is the Flex-A-Light Black Magic series #150.

I can't find it on E-Bay, nor can I find it on the Summit Racing page that was linked by Silver Rotor.

Would #160 work just as well? What would I be able to use instead of BM#150?

I don't think they sell the 150 anymore, but the 160 or 165 should be basically the same thing. Also, the adjustable themoswitch they come with is a POS. It's made in Korea and fails on people (like me!). A decent, simple set up can be made by tossing it and wiring the fan directly to a relay. Trigger the relay with a thermoswitch from summitracing and you're good. You can read about my experiences with such a setup here: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/spal-pwm-v3-black-magic-150-install-851238/. A temp switch lower than my 195F one should work better.

yeah a friend of mine had the 165 and the thermoswitch didn't work well. we ended up switching the fan with his standalone.

The thermoswitch in mine simply decided to stop working one day, but magically came back on after I messed with the adjustment dial for awhile. A fan switch isn't exactly something you want to have failing intermittantly. Not to mention, the thing also uses one of those senders you push through the fins of the radiator. The fan itself works great, it's just too bad they pair it with the cheapest controller on the market.
