Just wondering if they made any black 2+2's. Because I will be doing a black interior conversion soon and just wondering.

In the USA, black interior 2+2s were only available as S5 models

The bins are more useful though.

I have a black CANADIAN 1990 GXL... It's a 2+2.. seat belts and everything. The interior is all black and is MINT!
Sounds like i came across a good deal..

What can the rear bins do that the rear seats can't? I don't see anything better about them other than the fact you can lock them.

the rear bins can keep it from being seen ;-) and you don't want to put anything liquid in a seat as it might spill and mess up the cloth. The bins are plastic inside and you can just wipe it out. The bins probably weigh less as well.
