Best way to remove Gas Tank?

I have never really had to tackle removing the gas tank as far as i can see i would have to drop pretty much the entire rear end just to get her out. Is there any easyer way that anybody knows of? I am getting some rust deposits, And i want to see if it is comming from the gas tank!
Anybody suggestions?

There's a how-to on page F2-47 of the EFI chapter in the FSM. Looks pretty simple.

sounds dangerous... torch+gasoline=KABOOM

Drain the gas tank before you drop it. Im guessin a few gallons of gas would make it alot heavier.

well as is it is about as empty as she gets.. I don't have a tank pump.. However.. I am thinking I am not liking the torch idea... there is way too much invested in her to light her up!!!
But I did look at the fsm and it didn't seem to be too helpful! anybody else?

No...it reall is as simple as remove the bolts and let her fall. There's not much of any thing in the way but I would suggest that you have some one handy to help you out. You don't even need the FSM...you can pretty much go at it blind if you've got common sense.

As I can remember all I did was disconnect the hoses to the fuel pump, the filler neck and 2 straps that hold the tank. Am I leaving anything out anyone???
