Best way to put alum. together?

Im really looking into makin a cold air box.

I know about the template and everything. but what is the BEST way to keep the flat sheets together (at the corners?)

Also, How do you all keep the box from moving around..do you mount it in the engine bay? or does the hood + MAF keep it pretty tight?

Best way really would be to make it from one sheet of aluminum and bend it at the corners. Failing that, use rivets to attach it together - you can get rivets and a rivet gun pretty cheap, and it's super easy to use.

i'd rather use rivets...it would look more professional.

How do you know how high to make it so it seals but doesnt hit the hood?

I created one with an actual lid instead of trying to seal against the underside of the hood. I made a plane that was tilted at the same angle as the hood and rested right on the fender lip. Then I attached it to the back wall of the airbox using aluminum piano hinge. My stock airbox was attached to the side of the engine compartment with a bolt in a threaded hole. I just fabricated a bracket from scrap aluminum and bolted the airbox right in the same hole. That plus the AFM pretty much hold mine in place. I also used rivets (1/8") to connect the three pieces that compose my airbox.

I have been crowned The Exhalted Air Box Master.
