Any updates on the fuel pumps?

new Walbro 400LPH, running about a year now at 500whp with the kenney belle turned off pushing the car's 14v standard.

pump had room to breathe with factory fuel lines at that horsepower level.

pump is almost as quiet as the factory Denso FC pump.



Denso supra TT pump failed behind the kenney belle pushing around 17v through it(the Denso pump only had about 2,000 miles on it before it went to the dyno, began failing with each pull under a load. maybe the kenney belle burnt it out, maybe it was just junk but you do NOT want a pump slowly losing volume under load) where the Walbro 400 took the handoff and finished the job without the booster(less stress for the pump).

the walbro 255 that was in the car for the 450whp runs for many many years daily driven survived behind the kenne belle for all those years and is still in service in my car now.

not enough experience with the stealth pump yet, just installed one 2 weeks ago into a stock FD.


i have become a firm believer in Walbros despite all the failure stories, i have never seen one fail personally. install and wiring as well as power feed are VERY important. the Denso TT pump also was cooking a single 40amp relay(added a second relay to feed the pump but the pump still failed), they are power hogs as mentioned. i have grown to dislike anything above the cosmo variant in Denso pumps.

So just a question about my setup I plan to run. I am aiming for 500whp but I wont know til dyno time. But running pump gas on 550/1600 injectors haltech p1000 and I plan on getting rising rpm rails and I am looking for a recommendation on a fpr and pump. Would a 044 be enough, sounds like thats the pump with the most success so far for a street strip car! Motor is a streetport with a td07-25g turbo. Thanks in advance.

Dont think you will have eNough injector for 500hp, but the single 044 will be fine for pump gas

If you are wanting to run a big fuel system without boost a pump, I can recommend the a1000. I've been running it for 8 years with no issues. There is noise, but it is a lot more pump than others listed in the thread.

yea I have been debating on upgrading the primaries to 750s or something. little bigger. now sorry if I sound like a noob here but the a1000 needs extra modification to work correct? as the 044 is a drop in for the stock tank? as far as my power level goes my tuner said I will prob be in the 350-400 whp range for pump gas, however I do want to make sure that I have a pump that's not working overtime to do so.

A1000 uses 10an lines and is external.

the 044 is the least "drop in tank" resemblance of a pump(no fittings to mate to the outlet and a special sock filter adapter, pump is also about as big as you fit through the top of the tank).the A1000 relies on gravity to feed the pump.

many simpler, cheaper and reliable options out there.

especially for those power levels

as much as RE doesnt like them I say supra TT pump will do you just fine and literally drop right in, it has been proven time and time again to be a reliable pump

i've used the supra TT pumps before without issue, the main difference is this particular one was their newer part number and it was being jacked up by the KB boost-a-pump, which probably is what was killing it(burning up the windings on the motor).

i haven't seen them fail otherwise but i certainly won't make that mistake again.

to me that scenario told me their new replacement pumps are made cheaply(at least the drive motor portion is). it did make nearly 500whp before it started losing volume(probably why those were the best runs also, while AFRs were dropping into the 13's).

Ok. Thanks everyone for there help and input. Does anyone have a writeup on the 044? I think I am leaning towards that one. I have also seen the aero340 pump, but havent seen much reviews abiut it seeing as how it is still fairly new. Money isnt really an object in my opinion when it comes to a fuel pump.

Also I am still unsure about a good fpr... aeromotive has a few different ones but I am getting confused reading about them. I plan on using rising rpm rails.

the A1000 FPR is probably the most widely used, just beware of the chinese knockoffs still out there.
