Best upgraded fuel pump?
 

I am sure this has been discussed many times before but I am unable to use the forum search function with this HP tablet I am using right now, so bare with me please! Lol!

I had a Walbro fuel pump previously but it had rusted apart from non-use (my car has been sitting for 10 years). When putting it my new engine in this past spring, my mechanic put what he said was an FD pump, probably a JDM pump (part number Denso 195130-0782). I am changing my gas tank right now and bought a nice clean used one last week. While removing the fuel pump from the used tank I saw that it looked brand new! It is extremely clean and looks really new, no corrosion on the bolts or anything. The part number is Denso 195130-0271-3h. Is this a stock T2 pump? I have read many places and heard from variou people that the supra pump is probably the best drop-in pump upgrade, part number Denso 195130-1020. Is this right? While browsing for these pumps online I came across some Kyosan brand pumps that are supposed to be the same, for $140-$150 shipped. The pictures online whether on eBay or other sites all show the model number grinded off...which I find disturbing obviously. Can anyone offer some much needed info because I don't know whether to just stick with this FD pump (which looks rather used compared to the other nice clean one) or buy the supra pump. I have plans to achieve over 300hp if that helps at all. Thanks for any help!

depends on the setup of the car, the stock TII pump is good for about 250whp, FD pump 300whp, walbro about 400whp and supra slightly higher than the walbro.

if the car is stock and the TII pump is working fine then there isn't much need to upgrade the fuel pump.

The car is not stock presently and i have plans to upgrade the turbo to a BNR stage 4, bigger injectors, ECU, etc, etc.. Minimum 300 HP, probably closer to 350 I am hoping so I want a decent pump.

then get a real denso supra pump, you can find them new for about $175 with a little digging.

do your plans even remotely include E85?

No E85 as it is not really available in Canada, at least where I live.

good, because the supra pump runs out of steam at 350hp, I had that problem and now give the advice to people to think ahead of they are even thinking about switching fuels

it should push more than that, problem is most tuners don't advance the timing enough to truly take advantage of the ethanol.

everything I have ever been told is that the supra pump is good for 500hp, so minus 30% puts you right around 350hp which is where I started to lose fuel pressure when I was on the dyno, it might have been like 360, but regardless it was maxed out and no longer safe

retarded timing = power and mileage loss, that is what i meant.

compared to regular fuel where you might say be at 15 degrees of advance, you can usually run as far as 25 degrees of advance or further on E85.

yes you won't get as far but that still seems like a low figure comparatively speaking taking into account the differences in the fuel. the figures won't be night and day comparatively but it should net more than that unless the pump voltage was below average.

do you agree that e85 requires aprox 30% more fuel?
then anything rated for 500hp pump gas would be about 350, not exact figures but if your plans are to run in the 400hp range on e85 a supra pump will not cut it, neither will 1600 injectors which I found out also, lol

Ok, so what i understand is that i would be better off with the Denso Supra pump than my FD pump or a Walbro, right? And what about these Kyosan pumps I see around? Anybody have any experience with them? Where can I find a Denso Supra pump for a reasonable price new?

350hp a fd pump is fine if you already have one now

FD pump, Supra TT pump or a Bosch 044 are my personal favorites.

The only place I've found these Supra TT pumps so far is on rx7store.net for $210...anywhere else?

I'm using the aeromotive stealth 340lph drop in pump. A little cheaper than the denso TT with higher flow ratings.

was about to throw that one out there as it seems to be the newest replacement to the supra tt pump and costs less.

Yes I saw the Aeromotive Stealth pump as well but nobody seemed to be talking about it.

yeah i got that pump the Aromotive it dropes in good and fflows have not ran out fo fuel yet had it for 2 months so cannot speak on longevity but it looks like it is a quality build only time will tell

no love for the walboro? Those should be cheaper and flow about the same as a supra pump (255lph)

I have a venom 255lph pump, and despite the bad press venom has gotten, mine works fine and it was only $100. I was running 240 confirmed hp, but my tuner said he saw no reason why my setup couldn't achieve 300 or even 350 with the same fuel setup.

I have seen too many walbros fail or start to degrade in a short period of time to recommend them.

walbros are also very noisey.

question most are wondering is how reliable the stealth pump is, as it's new to the market.

walbro's are too loud and i have seen a lot of people have issues with them. i have also had one die on me. i'm now using a supra pump and it's great

Only problem w/the supra pump is its an amp HOG! And flow drops off significantly if it doesn't get all the amps its looking for. You could run dual walbros and probably use less amperage.

i used to have a walbro they never failed me until a few months ago 2 of them actually...if you running big injectors and over 300hp you might want to think twice....its not worth living with the dam whine....too many better and affordable options out there
