Hello All,
Haven't been on this site in years (since my FD burnt in a shop fire in '04). Anyway, I need some help with my brothers old GXL which hasn't been touched since his death in 2001. Back in 2000 he bought a ported/polished motor from Hayes Rotary in Washington and had it shipped to Ohio where he installed it along with a Wolf 3D management system (which i think was pretty unique system at the time. I know he called Australia allot for help with it.). He also installed nitrous as well with a cutback system and maybe some suspensions changes (I can't remember exactly).
Anyway, the car has been sitting in the garage in Ohio for 24 years and my dad, who still lives in the house isn't in great health and we really want to get an idea of who is best to restore the car (as much as possible).
I live in San Diego and I haven't kept up with the rotary scene and not sure what shops in the country are the best to approach. The car would essentially need to be shipped to whoever and go from there.
In the end it is a project which my dad wanted to have done at some point and i want to help as much as i can.
Please let me know any thoughts on best shops to inquire.
Thanks for the help. I included pics as well.
Brad
Banzai racing is in Indiana, and has a good reputation for taking care of Rx7's for a long time. I would reach out to them since it's a somewhat close location to where the car is now.
Thanks for the responses. The rotors haven't turned in 24 years so I am sure the seals are gone and I think mice made their way into different parts of the car at some point as well so lots to figure out.

the rotors not being turned doesn't mean the engine is a goner. i got a 1974 REPU in trade that hadn't been run in 25+ years and i eventually got it running ok with some MMO and finessing it loose, though eventually pulled the engine out for the customer who bought the truck to rebuild it and it was actually in very good condition internally even though it was initially seized up like a rock. that truck sat under a tree with the windows down for at least a decade too, looks like this one has been garage kept.
it may only need a new fuel tank/recondition, fuel system flush and have the injectors reconditioned to get it up and running.
if you can save money i don't see why i wouldn't at least try to.
