Best FC Spoiler?

I started another thread with a pic of a Supra-style spoiler for the FC, which a LOT of people hate. So I'm wondering:

What kind of spoiler do you all like best for the FC hatchback? I just want moderate downforce, and something that doesn't look rediculous. Thoughts? Opinions? Should I die for putting up the pic of the Supra-esque spoiler?

Oh, and here's a pic of the Supra-style spoiler http://www.wingswest.com/products_de...page=1&id=1337

Syncro 03-21-07 02:58 PM

Only ridiculously big wings provide any ACTUAL downforce below very high (very illegal felony) speeds. Nothing you'd put on a street car.

Get a wing you like looks-wise and be done with it I think :)

SpooledupRacing 03-21-07 03:00 PM

humm I'm not sure if any of the aftermarket spoilers for the fc will actually give u any added downforce...

I like mine almost everyone else does not but I dont care. and I kind of like the supra wing to its just to tall. if the wing is thin and dont have a real face on it to catch the air then it will apply no downforce

Aluminum Park Bench Style! :D

Roen 03-21-07 03:19 PM

Ridiculously big wings provide downforce at low speeds, with the penalty of extreme drag at high speeds. Look at some of the champion FD's in ProSolo. They have the biggest wings I've ever seen.

Smaller, or normal sized GT Wings give little downforce at low speeds, but suffer less drag comparatively. They provide the best grip/drag tradeoff at moderate speeds.

Small spoilers don't really give much downforce, but also don't have much of a drag penalty either.

Hi

well you have to consider that the air at this point of the car is flowing downwards.
So already an horizontal plane could produce a little downforce,
and actually might improve drag because the air flow behind the car may become
less turbulent

I for myself like this one:

Stock S4 TII or S5 GTU Wing FTW :D

very normal, stock looking and still more agressive without looking too far out...
and I do beleve this wing to be functional

RB_eater 03-21-07 04:19 PM

I think this one looks bad-ass

MmSadda 03-21-07 06:04 PM

I'm not about that huge stuff. If I get one, I want it to be somewhere between stock TII and the Supra-esque one

ColdSeven 03-21-07 06:24 PM

best one hands down is....naked keep it clean cause nothing else helps you anyway

I personally love my wing, but I have no clue who makes it (no, its not the Finishline spoiler.)

87_rocket 03-21-07 07:41 PM

let me be the first to say...duckbill spoiler!

lupin 03-21-07 07:46 PM

lately I have been playing forza. I hate every civic I see with a big black wing on it but I am thinking it might look good on my s4 gxl.

SpooledupRacing 03-21-07 07:48 PM

the duckbill is NOT functional

Wrong. reduces drag slightly

FCKing1995 03-21-07 08:21 PM

Stock spoiler cant be beaten. Not having a spoiler is too plain and throws off the body lines. Big supra style or aluminum wings just look like ass, maybe a civic would be more suited for such a retarded wing/spoiler. STOCK FTW!

fc.fanatic 03-21-07 08:24 PM

i would definitely have to say stock TII/GTU spoiler, i have yet to see anything better on an FC.

that wing is sweet. where did you get it?

87_rocket 03-21-07 09:04 PM

cleeeeeeeeeean ^ although i think some different rims might be nicer.

SMonty 03-21-07 09:21 PM

it looks like a painted stock sport wing, I saw a thread on the aerodynamic profile of an FC and I"m not a wind tunnel genious but people were saying the sport wing is the most beneficial due to low pressure there or something.... i dunno

Thanks I got some wheels already. They have been in my room just waiting for some tires.

black_88 03-21-07 09:47 PM

so what wing is that man.

WNT2CREALPAIN 03-21-07 09:55 PM

yes plz what wing is that?! it's one of the best one's ive seen looks wise

manslayerx9 03-21-07 09:56 PM

stock or none. because anything big will limit the ability to get into the back.

That is a painted stock Sport aka duckbill spoiler.

Here's an unpainted one on my POS:

X-JaVeN-X 03-21-07 10:43 PM

where is that spoiler that looks like it's molded onto the rear? I think erebuni used to sell it, but I can't find it and don't know what it was called. That spoiler was beautiful to me.

black_88 03-21-07 10:49 PM

I think that stock sport wing is sweet! now Im going to have to buy that wing.

ZeroDrift 03-21-07 11:16 PM

Here are a few pics of my duckbill spoiler. And the duckbill spoiler reduces drag. Its the only functional stock spoiler from what I recall. The car has different rims currently.

The ricer in me likes this spoiler... the r-magic wing

Gringo Grande 03-21-07 11:32 PM

I've always thought the duckbill's looked like ass. (Not popular opinion I know) =D

X-JaVeN-X 03-21-07 11:56 PM

THIS SPOILER...anybody know where you can get it? I believe it was by erebuni but I don't think they've sold it for awhile.

Factory TII Spoiler

There is nothing ricer about the R-Magic spoiler. Probably the most rear downforce you'll get out of an FC spoiler period. And doesn't look bad either. :)

TehMonkay 03-22-07 01:59 AM

I'm getting the r-magic one for sure, I know someone that has a similar one on an 81 GS that has the factory gold paint, looks effin sweet.

FC3S_nataku 03-22-07 02:08 AM

the re wing looks pretty good and i think it adds some downforce.

That one looks nice. Blended.

FuriousComet 03-22-07 03:17 AM

I must say i love the look of the sport spoiler. Its clean and simple and different than the tII's for the s4 gens.

Thats a sweet ass spoiler. Gives it an NSX-looking stance from the rear. Also looks to give off wider perception of the back end.

88fc3c 03-22-07 04:01 AM

i actualy like the re ameniya wet carbon one...

RB_eater 03-22-07 10:37 AM

I dont know about the RE one, it's not ugly but it's kinda weird. The NSX/F40 one looks real nice though.

tr4c3 03-22-07 10:56 AM

I know it was said earlier, but the only one I like so far is the duckbill spoiler. My sport has one and it isn't that bad. I actually prefer no spoiler at all over the others though.

Gringo Grande 03-22-07 02:15 PM

So who makes the NSX looking one? Anyone 100% certain?

GG
