Best aftermarket A/C systems for a fc3s rx7?
Best aftermarket A/C systems for a fc3s rx7?
The stock fins are toast, bearings are dead, O-rngs dried out... typical problems we all face. No one likes to be gassed out of their car. So what kind of aftermarket or other model oem systems can work with the fc? Anyone try something crazy and it work?
There are no vendors that I'm aware of that offer a turn key A/C system kit for the FC, but it shouldn't be too hard to piece a working system together with a mix of used FC parts, new generic aftermarket parts and a rebuilt FC compressor.
Rebuilt compressors for the FC are still available. New O-rings, expansion valves and dryers are also readily available for the FC. At least they were when I restored my FC's A/C system about 3 years ago. As for the condenser & evaporator core, just find a good used one that you can flush/clean and you should be good to go. If you're missing any of the hoses & hard lines, you can fabricate your own plumbing to make it all work. My go-to source for A/C plumbing bits is coldhose.com and/or Vintage Air (can buy their stuff from JEGS, Summit Racing, etc.). Also, if you have to resort to fabricating your own plumbing, you may as well chuck the old OEM serpentine flow condenser and replace it with a generic parallel flow unit of about the same size, which will make the system work much better with current refrigerants like R134A.
